Work as a Team

Work as a Team

Work as a team. What do teams do? They discuss their goals and work on them together. So we need to do the same in marriage. Try to do things together when you can. You don’t have to do everything together. But when you are doing something like cooking, consider doing it as a couple. It can be romantic to cook together and it is an act of love to make a meal for the family.

The other thing team members do is to focus on their strengths. So if you are good at doing a particular task, you can focus that. But don’t fall into the trap of feeling you have to obey stereotypical gender roles. Even though you may have grown up in a house where the mother cooked, don’t assume it is the woman’s job to cook. In fact all the famous chefs a few decades ago were male.

Take baking as another example. Traditionally all professional bakers were men. It is still a very male dominated industry. Yet in our homes, we tend to expect the woman to be the baker. There is no reason for this stereotyping.

Personally I love to do DIY. My husband hates it. So in our house I am the one who does DIY projects. And that is perfectly ok. Even Queen Elizabeth 2nd was a car mechanic during World War II. If it is good enough for her, it is good enough for any woman!

Work as a Team to help each other

Even when you are focussing on your strengths, you can still invite your partner to help you, so that it becomes a marriage activity. Or when someone needs help with something, it is a perfect opportunity for you to strengthen your marriage bond.

In my coaching, my clients learn to understand each other more, so that they feel like they are on the same side. They develop a deeper spiritual connection so that they feel like soul mates. If you want this kind of closeness, I highly recommend that you try relationship coaching.

I would love to offer you a powerful coaching call to help you work as a team in your marriage. It is my gift to you.
